Description

Upgrade your 1967-1970 Mustang with the Opentracker Racing Roller Front Suspension Kit—the ultimate bolt-on performance upgrade that eliminates friction, optimizes geometry, and delivers modern-level handling while preserving the authentic vintage appearance of your classic Ford. Unlike other kits that replace factory control arms with fully tubular aftermarket designs—altering the stock look and requiring more visible modifications—this kit starts with high-quality, stock-style components that are expertly modified and upgraded with precision roller bearings. The result? Championship-level performance gains without sacrificing the clean, original factory aesthetic enthusiasts love. Your suspension still looks period-correct from the wheel wells, maintaining that timeless classic vibe.

Complete Kit Includes:

  • “Cheater” Blueprinted Upper Control Arms: These “Cheater” upper arms draw from old-school drag racing tricks to make the shaft and bushings operate smoothly while appearing completely stock. Factory arms can feel stiff without proper assembly—these are precision-tuned for effortless movement and superior performance.
  • Roller Lower Control Arms: Friction-free, stock-style design optimized for street and drag, providing exceptional articulation and precise control.
  • Delrin Monoball Strut Rod Bushings: Racing-grade Delrin monoball configuration minimizes deflection, offering adjustability for precise alignment and exceptional durability under high loads.
  • 1″ Drop Template: Ensures accurate 1″ upper control arm drop for improved camber curve, reduced understeer, and enhanced grip.
  • Roller Spring Perches: These use sealed roller bearings as the pivot point instead of rubber bushings. This delivers major improvements in ride quality, driver comfort, road responsiveness, braking stability, and overall handling. The smooth pivot reduces noise and vibration transmitted to the chassis. Since the front end’s weight rides on these free-moving points, the car feels smoother and more planted—unlike stock rubber bushings that resist movement, causing a harsh ride and sluggish response.
  • Performance Coil Springs: Premium contour coil springs (typically around 600 lb/in rating, painted black). Factory springs often sag from age; these provide the desired stance without excessive noticeable drop.
  • 1-1/8″ Sway Bar with Polyurethane Bushings: Larger diameter reduces body roll and boosts cornering stability with durable, low-maintenance bushings.
  • Coil Spring Insulators 1/8″ Polyurethane: Durable, long-lasting, and quiet.

Opentracker’s signature roller technology places high-precision roller bearings at critical pivot points instead of traditional sliding bushings (rubber, polyurethane, or bronze). This slashes friction, eliminates “stiction” that hinders movement over bumps, in turns, or during weight transfer, and enables true rolling motion. Enjoy effortless steering, instant suspension response, quieter operation with lower NVH, and freed-up energy for better grip, control, and efficiency. Experience sharper turn-in, improved tire contact patch, enhanced cornering stability, plus noticeable gains in acceleration, braking, and everyday drivability—perfect for street cruising, hard launches, or track days.

The kit includes a Shelby Drop template (also known as Arning drop or 1″ upper arm drop) for precisely relocating the upper control arm mounting points on the shock towers—lowering them 1 inch with a slight rearward offset. This legendary modification, proven on Shelby GT350s and effective across 1967-1970 Mustangs, Cougars, and similar Ford platforms, counters the factory’s positive camber gain under compression (where the tire top tilts outward in turns). Dropping the pivots lets the tire track straighter up and down, generating a beneficial negative camber curve for dramatically better grip, less understeer, reduced body roll, and a lower front center of gravity. Minimal downside—just drilling four half-inch holes—for handling that’s planted, neutral, and far more capable, feeling like a modern build.

Maximize the setup with a professional performance alignment: add caster for high-speed stability and zero to negative camber for cornering traction (countering factory positive camber). Negative camber enhances grip but should match your driving style—milder for cruising, more aggressive for spirited use. Monitor tire wear on the street or tread temperatures on the track to fine-tune.

Recommended Alignment Specs:

STREET SPECS

  • Caster: +2° to +3.5° (Manual Steer) / +2.5° to +4.5° (Power Steer)
  • Camber: 0° to -0.5°
  • Toe: 1/8″ in

STREET PERFORMANCE SPECS

  • Caster: +2.0° to +3.5° (Manual Steer) / +2.5° to +4.5° (Power Steer)
  • Camber: -0.5° to -1.5°
  • Toe: 1/8″ in

Set caster and camber symmetrically on both sides for balanced handling. These specs fully leverage the Shelby drop for optimal results.

Discover the Opentracker difference: a smart, race-proven combination of ultra-low friction, refined geometry, and tailored alignment guidance—all while keeping your classic looking authentically vintage. Your Mustang becomes quieter, smoother, more composed, and vastly more capable on the street or at the limit—without the modernized look of tubular replacements. Proudly designed and assembled in the USA for exceptional durability and straightforward installation.
