Description

Upgrade your 1965-1966 V-8 Mustang, Falcon, or Comet with the Opentracker Racing Roller Front Suspension Kit—the ultimate bolt-on performance upgrade that eliminates friction, optimizes geometry, and unlocks modern-level handling while preserving the authentic vintage appearance of your classic Ford. Unlike other kits which replace factory control arms with fully tubular aftermarket designs that alter the stock look and require more visible modifications, this kit starts with high-quality, stock-style components that are expertly modified and upgraded with precision roller bearings. The result? Championship-level performance gains without sacrificing the clean, original factory aesthetic that enthusiasts love, and your suspension still looks period-correct from the wheel wells, maintaining that timeless classic vibe.

Complete Kit Includes:

  • ORP-1126: “Cheater” Blueprinted Upper Control Arms: This is a set of our ” Cheater ”  upper arms. The term cheater refers to a trick the drag racers did to the Ford upper arms back in the day to make the shaft kit move smoother (look stock but not be stock). Anyone who has ever worked with these arms knows, they can be very stiff if they’re not put together properly. The racers will take the arms apart and spend a huge amount of time working the shaft and bushings until it worked smooth.
  • ORP-1013: Roller Lower Control Arms: Friction-free, stock-style design optimized for street and drag, delivering superior articulation and control.
  • ORP-1234: Delrin Monoball Strut Rod Bushings with Adjustable Strut Rods: Racing-grade Delrin monoball setup minimizes deflection, with adjustability for precise alignment and high-load durability.
  • ORP-1029: Shelby Drop Template: Ensures accurate 1″ upper control arm drop for improved camber curve, reduced understeer, and enhanced grip.
  • ORP-1001: Roller Spring Perches: Our roller spring perches use sealed roller bearings as the pivot point instead of a rubber bushing. This upgrade provides a huge gain in ride quality, driver comfort and responsiveness to the road, stability under braking and improved handling. With the smooth moving pivot, there is less noise and vibration translated to the chassis. The entire weight of the front end rides on these two pivot points so when it moves freely, the car has a smoother ride quality. The stock rubber bushing greatly increases the effort required for the suspension to move causing a rough ride and poor handling.
  • C5ZZ-5310-P: Performance Coil Springs: These premium performance contour coil springs feature a 600-pound/inch rating and are painted black. Everyday wear and stress typically have already collapsed the factory front springs partially and a 1″ inch drop will not be overly noticeable.
  • S1MS-5482-A: 1″ Sway Bar with Polyurethane Bushings: Reduces body roll and improves cornering stability with durable, low-maintenance bushings.
  • ORP-1263: Coil Spring Insulators 1/8″ Polyurethane: Durable, long lasting, and quiet.

Opentracker’s signature roller technology incorporates high-precision roller bearings at critical pivot points in place of traditional sliding bushings (rubber, polyurethane, or bronze), drastically reducing friction and eliminating “stiction” that binds movement on bumps, turns, or weight transfers. This delivers true rolling motion for effortless steering, instant suspension response, quieter operation with reduced NVH, and freed-up energy for superior grip, control, and efficiency. Enjoy sharper turn-in, better tire contact, enhanced cornering stability, and tangible improvements in acceleration, braking, and drivability—whether launching hard at the drag strip or carving corners on the track.

The kit features a Shelby Drop template (also called Arning drop or 1″ upper arm drop) for accurate relocation of the upper control arm mounting points on the shock towers—dropping them 1 inch lower with a slight rearward offset. This proven modification, developed for the GT350 and effective on 1960-1968 Falcons, 1964-1970 Mustangs, and similar Ford/Mercury vehicles, corrects the factory positive camber gain during compression (where the tire top tilts outward in turns). Lowering the pivots allows the tire to move more straight up and down in the wheel well, creating a favorable negative camber curve for dramatically better grip, reduced understeer, minimized body roll, and a lower front center of gravity. Virtually no downside except drilling four half-inch holes—yielding handling that’s planted, neutral, and far more capable, as if your classic were built today.

Maximize these upgrades with a performance alignment that adds caster for stability and zero or negative camber for cornering traction (replacing factory positive camber). Negative camber boosts grip but is tailored to your driving style—less for relaxed cruising, more for aggressive use. Check tire wear patterns on the street or temperatures across the tread on the track to dial it in perfectly.

Recommended Alignment Specs:

STREET SPECS

  • Caster: +2° to +3.5° (Manual Steer) / +2.5° to +4.5° (Power Steer)
  • Camber: 0° to -0.5°
  • Toe: 1/8″ in

STREET PERFORMANCE SPECS

  • Caster: +2.0° to +3.5° (Manual Steer) / +2.5° to +4.5° (Power Steer)
  • Camber: -0.5° to -1.5°
  • Toe: 1/8″ in

Set caster and camber identically on both sides for balanced handling. These specs leverage the Shelby drop for optimal results.

Experience the Opentracker difference: a thoughtful, championship-proven setup blending reduced friction, optimized geometry, and performance alignment recommendations—all while keeping your classic looking authentically vintage. Your Mustang, Falcon, or Comet becomes quieter, smoother, more planted, and dramatically more capable—on the street or at the limit—without the modernized appearance of tubular replacements. Proudly designed and assembled in the USA for lasting durability and straightforward installation.
