Application Notes (65-70 Mustang)
Installs on 65-70 Mustang with Ford 5 lug 8″ or 9″ small bearing rear ends. All 65-70 8″ rear ends are small bearing. Original equipment Mach 1 9″ rear ends are small bearing. Cobra and Boss models are incompatible. The kit is mainly pre-assembled onto its cast backing plate, uses Ford OE replacement parts. The install requires slight modification to the terminal hard brake line, but is otherwise plug and play.
This disc brake kit includes correct fit year specific brake cables (we will ask what year car you have), no fuss/no shims for mounting of the single piston caliper, independent true drum parking/emergency brake mechanism assembled onto heavy duty backing plate that works upon a drum that is machined into the inboard side of the 11.2″ rotor (like most modern cars). The kit also includes bearings and seals, a braided SS brake hose set with provision for mounting onto the axle tube. This kit does not change the track width. Requires 15″ or larger wheels.
